BOCES ARTS-IN-EDUCATION PROGRAM: THE ART OF ILLUSTRATING A CHILDREN'S BOOK
  PROGRAM / WORKSHOP / 'POWER-POINT'____for K-6____These age-appropriate presentations teach children about the craft of book illustration & writing for picture books. They are based on the artist's published and publicly displayed Picture Book works and vary according to each grade level. *K-2: drawing workshop/character creation,coloring sheets/hidden picture activity, story-telling activity. *3-6: A 'Power-Point' presentation and Q&A, showcasing approximately 30 pieces of published & publicly displayed art by Barbara Mason Rast. Some of the books previewed in this workshop are: THE CHOCOLATE TRAIN • ROCKSTER & the GIANT ACORN • WATERMELON AFTERNOON • A FROG WENT A-WANDERING• WOODLAND WONDERS • CHLOE AND HER TWO RED SHOES

A FROG WENT A-WANDERING BY BARBARA MASON RAST
Join this young frog,lost in a magical medieval world, as he looks for his home at the sycamore tree. Interactive storytelling and coloring & hidden picture activities are included.

ROCKSTER & THE GIANT ACORN
Meet Rockster the rock and his friends, Crystal, Pyrite,the Golden Nuggets and others. ACTIVITIES: Learn step by step how to create these characters through a guided demonstration by the artist, storytelling, coloring activity.

THE CHOCOLATE TRAIN
Travel with the Chocolate Train to many magical destinations like Cupcake Mountain, Marshmallow Marsh and IceCream Seaside. This presentation includes a coloring and storytelling activity.

WATERMELON AFTERNOON WATERMELON AFTERNOON

Experience with a young girl the joys of gardening and all the magical elements that transpire in the garden throughout the summer in this storytelling program. Also included,FIND the HIDDEN FAIRIES and coloring activity.
